This piece was finished in August 2022. The base is made from plastic bags. Trees are made from corks and pop tops. Vines are wires from and old TV. Ground bushes are scrap metal AKA the metal pubes. Sloths are made from my precious rope I found at the river. So far, I’ve used the rope in 13 different projects.

When I first started making this piece, I didn’t really have intentions. I wanted to do a different style of tree than I had before. As the trees grew and came to life, I knew sloths belonged. Which of course made me think of one of my dearest friends. They love sloths. But also, it’s deeper than that. They are a friend that just moves slowly through life with me. Someone that we can literally just hang around and move along at our own pace, yet we are having the time of our lives. They truly enjoy the little moments. They take me on all the coolest adventures with them and are always giving the best gifts. I’m so happy that this piece came together so perfectly for me to be able to give to them. A thank you gift for Just Slothin Around through life with me.
